Digital Media

90172 Demonstrate understanding of basic digital procedures
91073 Implement basic procedures to produce a specified digital media outcome

In this project we create a digital media solution to a problem. "Examples of digital media outcomes may include but are not limited to – an edited movie, a multi-page website, a multi-page desktop published document." (NZQA).

The Problems

A large percentage of the world's population cannot read. Literacy rates are lower in the developing world than in the developed world. The primary method of internet access in the developing world is the mobile phone. You need to create a multimedia resource that will play on a mobile device and will help improve basic literacy. It can be in the language of your choice. You also have to design a web page that will promote the use of these resources and encourage others to contribute.

There are approximately ? girls at this school and students nationwide that are sitting NCEA externals in Maths, English and Science. All of these externals require the understanding of key concepts or the memorisation of key facts. You need to create a multimedia resource that will play on a mobile device that will assist students in their study. You also need to create a web platform that will promote the use of these resources and encourage others to contribute.

The Solution

Read both standards thoroughly. Read them again.

As with the Information Management problem you need to produce two reports, an evidence report for each standard.

91072 is the 'knowing' standard. It is important that you show evidence of your understanding of the theory behind the project. This will be covered in class but you will also need to do your own research and add to your knowledge. Remember you need to constantly relate this back to your project by giving exampes from your project work. Make sure that you read the standard before you start.

91073 in the 'doing' standard. It is important that you show evidence of your ability to use the features of the software to do a particular job. When you show evidence be very careful to clearly identify the feature, what is does and how it helped in this project. Make sure that you read the standard before you start
